The national final of the 2022 “Hanzi Bond” International Story Contest grandly kicked off in Hohhot on January 10. KALRA ANMOL SURESH (安妮Annie), an Indian international student majoring in International Chinese Education 2021 of our university, stood out amid fierce competition and was awarded the First Prize with the second-highest overall score.
Hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the 2022 “Hanzi Bond” International Story Contest drew nearly 3,000 contestants from more than 50 countries since its launch. Following grueling preliminary and semi-final rounds, only ten competitors representing ten nations including India, Germany, Thailand and Russia qualified for the national final. Centered on the theme of Righteousness (Yi), the event strives to champion mutual learning, communication and integration among global civilizations, and rally solidarity to forge ahead toward a shared future.
Drawing from her personal life experiences during the competition, 安妮(Annie) delivered an in-depth interpretation of the Chinese character Yi (Righteousness). She illustrated that the character embodies profound love and benevolence, manifested in loyalty, morality, chivalry and filial piety. She also voiced her earnest aspiration to uphold righteousness as a guiding principle, hoping her personal kindness could inspire universal compassion across communities, winning unanimous praise and recognition from the judging panel and the entire audience.
This outstanding achievement marks a fruitful milestone in moral education for our university’s international students. It also bears great significance for elevating our institution’s international education standards and cultivating high-quality global talents.
