On May 21, Shaoxing University held a provincial expert pre-evaluation meeting for the quality accreditation of higher education for international students. The expert group were invited to the campus for pre-evaluation and on-site guidance, including Du Jian, first-class research fellow of the Foreign Cooperation and Exchange Division of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Xia Junsuo, party secretary of the Sino-German College of Zhejiang University of Science and Technology, and Chen Minzhi, dean of the School of International Education of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. Leaders of relevant functional departments of the University attended the meeting, which was hosted by the person in charge of the School of International Education of Shaoxing University.

At the meeting, the experts listened to a report on the University’s preparatory work for the accreditation, as well as achievements in student admission management, talent training, faculty deployment, teaching support, daily management and services. In accordance with the accreditation criteria, the expert group conducted item-by-item verification against the self-evaluation report and supporting documents. They objectively pointed out deficiencies in system development, process management, document standardization and quality supervision, and put forward practical suggestions on improving the management system, standardizing details and highlighting work features.

After the meeting, the experts inspected the offices, classrooms and supporting facilities of the School of International Education on the spot to learn about the organization of teaching, daily management and service delivery for international students.

This pre-evaluation has provided targeted guidance for improving the quality of international student education. Going forward, led by the School of International Education, the University will sort out all problems item by item and formulate detailed rectification measures in response to experts’ advice. It will further standardize and professionalize the education and management of international students, so as to lay a solid foundation for passing the official accreditation.
